Tennessee University Attempts to Cancel Confederate Leader Who Believed in Racial Reconciliation

Middle Tennessee State University is making another attempt to erase the name of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate officer and former leader of the Ku Klux Klan leader. The Confederate leader’s name is on MTSU’s Army ROTC building.
This marks the university’s second attempt to erase the legacy of Forrest, as it unsuccessfully filed a similar petition back in 2018.
During a recent hearing in front of the Tennessee Historical Commission, MTSU made the case to acquire a waiver under Tennessee’s Heritage Protection Act to rename Forrest Hall.
In early 2024, university representatives will take part in a final hearing before the commission. The commission will subsequently issue a ruling within 30 days. In order to have the power to rename Forrest Hall, MTSU would need a 2/3rds vote of approval from the commission. Basically, it needs at least 20 votes from the board that is made up of 29 members.
Forrest had a controversial life, as evidenced by how he presided over a massacre of black and white troops, even after Union forces had surrendered. After the Civil War, Forrest would become a prominent leader in the KKK.
Towards the end of his life, Forrest had a change of heart and repudiated his previous support for racial discrimination against black people and called for the integration of law schools nationwide.
These changes in racial views are still enough for the woke iconoclasts who are hell-bent on destroying all facets of American history.
The Left is playing a game of historical annihilation. They’re starting off with the Confederacy, because it’s a low-hanging fruit due to its intimate connection with slavery.
However, these radicals aren’t stopping there. They’re going to shift their sights to other white historical figures in their quest to erase the history of this great country. The fight to preserve American history is one fight that the Right can’t afford to lose.
The removal and replacement of monuments is the hallmark of a society that has been conquered by an alien culture. Allowing such a development to occur will represent another form of submissions to the anti-whites.
