The Biden Regime Sanctions Israeli Settlers for Attacking Palestinians

On February 1, 2024, the Biden regime announced its decision to slap sanctions on four Israeli settlers implicated in attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank. This move was executed under a brand new executive order designed to clamp down on fanatic Israeli settlers.

The Biden regime announced on February 1 that it is imposing sanctions against four Israeli settlers who participated in attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank.  These sanctions were issued under a new executive order with the goal of constraining the violent behavior of fanatic Israeli settlers.

President Biden issued the executive order granting the State Department and Treasury Department the power to sanction the individuals, applying a US tool often used against criminals, human rights abusers, and terrorists.

The sanctions imposed on the blacklisted individuals prevent them from accessing any property or interests held in the US. On top of that, it slaps a visa ban on entry to the US, and bans any American citizen from engaging in transactions with the sanctioned individual.

A senior Biden regime official stated the decision to issue the executive order had the goal of  promoting “peace, security, and dignity,” in the West Bank, and is part of the Biden regime’s broader tasks of working toward the creation of a Palestinian state while simultaneously bankrolling and endorsing Israel’s punitive campaign in Gaza.

Violence in the West Bank throughout 2023 reached alarming levels, especially attacks launched by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, Palestinian terrorist attacks against Israelis, and Israeli security raids against alleged threats from Palestinian terrorist cells.

Hamas’s October 7 attack against Israel exacerbated the already rampant levels of violence in the West Bank, a disputed territory that often sees Israeli settlers clash with Palestinians.

Of note, the sanctions target extremist Israelis using violence to settle land in the West Bank by force and displace Palestinians living there in these territories.

According to a report by the United Nations office for human rights in December, there have been 367 recorded attacks by Israeli settlers that have brought about casualties or property damage and over 1,200 people displaced due to settler violence. From October 7 to December 27, Israeli settlers killed 7 Palestinian men and one child .

On top of that, the report pointed out that only two settlers were reported to have been arrested, and no indictments have been filed thus far.

One of the sanctioned individuals was David Chai Chasdai. According to the State Department, he allegedly kicked off and spearheaded a riot that saw settlers burn down buildings and vehicles, assault civilians, and damage property. This riot ended up with the death of a Palestinian civilian. .

Another Israeli individual, Einan Tanjil, received sanctions for assaulting farmers and Israeli activists and for launching attacks against people with clubs and stones that ended in injuries that necessitated medical treatment.

Per the State Department. Shalom Zicherman, was caught on video assaulting Israeli activists and their vehicles in the West Bank, blocking them on the street, and made an attempt to break the windows of vehicles passing by with activists inside.  Zicherman confronted at least two of the activists and injured both of them, the State Department stated.

Last but certainly not least, the US sanctioned Yinon Levi allegedly led several settlers who wreaked havoc in the West Bank.

The State Department asserted that Levi routinely led several groups of Israeli settlers from the Meitarim Farm outpost to later assault Palestinian and Bedouin civilians, threatened them with further violence if they did not flee their property, burned down their fields, and destroyed their private property. According to the State Department,  Levi and other settlers operating out of Meitarim Farm have routinely attacked multiple communities within the West Bank, State.

The Israeli settler movement has gotten out of hand thanks to the rightward shift of the Israeli government, which has seen right-wing coalition governments give them a free pass for their illegal settlements.

Nevertheless, the Biden regime’s sanctions here are pointless. It’s at best a political stunt designed to placate the Democratic Party’s Muslim base, which is largely concentrated in the key battleground state of Michigan. Muslim American voters have been horrified by the Biden regime’s co-signing of Israel’s brutal campaign in Gaza.

If the Biden regime were serious about bringing peace to the Israel vs. Palestinian conflict, it would end all forms of economic and military aid to Israel and let the Israelis and Palestinians sort out this conflict amongst themselves.
