Thomas Massie Endorses Ron DeSantis for 2024

On April 5, 2023, Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for President in the 2024 presidential election. In doing so, Massie became the second member of Congress to endorse DeSantis— next to Texas Congressman Chip Roy.
Curiously, DeSantis still hasn’t officially announced his bid for the United States presidency.
In a statement the Never Back Down super PAC publisher, which backs the concept of a DeSantis presidential run, Massie described the Florida governor as “a proven energetic leader.”
“America needs a leader who is decisive, respects the Constitution, understands policy, puts family first, and leads by inspiring,” Massie stated. “That’s why I’m endorsing Ron DeSantis for President.”
“If we make the right choices, America’s best days are in front of us. Let’s pick a proven energetic leader who can get us there,” he added. “Let’s choose Ron DeSantis for President.”
DeSantis announced he will make an official decision on a presidential campaign after Florida’s legislative session concludes in May.
In his statement, Massie alluded to DeSantis’s track record while serving in Congress and serving as governor of Florida, calling attention to his stances on economic freedom and “putting America first.”
“I’ve been honored to call Ron DeSantis a friend for over a decade,” Massie stated. “During the six years we served together in Congress, I witnessed Ron fight for economic freedom, personal liberty, fiscal responsibility, and constitutionally limited government.”
“In his congressional office and as Governor, Ron has always surrounded himself with capable people who share his principles,” he added. “Ron knows that putting America first means putting Americans first, not corporations, and he’s never backed down from a fight with the big guys in pharma, agriculture, and tech.”
Massie’s endorsement of DeSantis is interesting. There are legitimate questions abouts DeSantis’s foreign policy vision given his pro-Zionist inclinations and his previous support of the Euromaidan Revolution in Ukraine back in 2014. However, it appears that DeSantis has somewhat changed on the matter.
Nevertheless, DeSantis is a fine Florida Governor. But in these trying times when Donald Trump remains a prominent figure in Republican Party politics, this is still Trump’s party.
