Thomas Massie Picks Up Another Co-Sponsor for His Safe Students Act
Most proposals being put forward in the aftermath of the Buffalo, New York and Uvalde, Texas mass shootings consist of actions designed to disarm lawful citizens.
Throughout his time in office, Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie has distanced himself from Gun Control Inc. through his advocacy of policies that empower lawful gun owners.
On April 6, 2022, Massie introduced HR 7415, the Safe Students Act, that would repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990. While this bill didn’t receive much attention when it was first introduced, it has gained traction after recent mass shootings.
On June 3, Massie announced that Ohio Congressman Warren Davidson co-sponsored HR 7415. He tweeted, “Thank you to @WarrenDavidson for cosponsoring HR 7415, the Safe Students Act. My ‘Safe Students Act’ repeals the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 and would make it easier for state and local governments and school boards to unambiguously set their own firearms policies.” As of June 6, HR 7415 has 18 co-sponsors.

The 1990 GFSZA was signed into law by George H.W. Bush. This legislation has made many schools vulnerable to mass shooters.
According to research from the Crime Prevention Research Center, 94% of mass shootings from 1950 to 2022 took place in gun-free zones. As long as gun-free zones exist, mass murders will have schools among their primary choices to terrorize.
