Trudeau Announces Revocation Of His Unprecedented Emergencies Act

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is now revoking the Emergencies Act after days of brutal government ordered police crackdowns to clear out hundreds of demonstrators with the so-called “Canadian Freedom Convoy” that had occupied various parts of the nation for weeks, including the capital and various borders.

Trudeau announced an end to his unprecedented use of the draconian emergency powers at a press conference on Wednesday. A video of the message can be found by clicking here.

“Today, after careful consideration, we’re ready to confirm that the situation is no longer an emergency,” he said. “Therefore, the federal government will be ending the use of the Emergencies Act.”

The Canadian prime minister claimed the government is now confident that current existing laws and bylaws can once again sufficiently keep Canadians safe.

“Of course, we will continue to be there to support provincial and local authorities if and when needed,” he added.

The order, which Canadian media falsely described as “legislation,” gave Trudeau’s government the ability to unilaterally declare the right to peacefully protest around Parliament Hill illegal, ignoring standing Canadian law. It also granted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police the ability to doxx freedom convoy protestors of their personal information so they could work with banks to freeze their financial assets.

Trudeau suggested that the Canadian truckers are still a threat and consequently need to be understood and dealt with accordingly.

“Going forward it’ll be important that we gain a fuller understanding of what gave rise to this kind of disregard for laws and threat to our democracy,” Trudeau told reporters.

“While the immediate emergency situation is over, this issue won’t just go away,” he said, adding that the threat still remains.

The Ontario government followed, also announcing an end to the emergency order Wednesday.

“In alignment with the federal government, Ontario will be terminating its declaration of a state of emergency as of 5:00 p.m. today,” a statement from Premier Doug Ford’s office said.
