Right wing protesters stormed the stage at the Public Theater’s final showing of a contemporary version of Julius Caesar — which features the assassination of a lookalike of President Donald Trump.
The play, which is sponsored by the New York Times, features the Caesar character shown fully nude, as well as tweeting from a bathtub before being stabbed to death by female and minority senators as an American Flag hangs beside them.
During the Sunday evening showing, the first protester, reportedly Jovi Val of the Modern Patriots, stormed the stage demanding that “liberal hate kills.”
UPDATE #1: A second protester disrupted the production by screaming “we’re sick of your bullsh-t” during the assassination scene.
UPDATE #2: Yet another protester stormed the stage, this time it was Proud Boy Sal Cipolla — who declared that “CNN is ISIS!”
Cipolla was tackled by security, removed from the stage and arrested. He was subsequently charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct.
When asked for comment, Cipolla told Big League Politics that “CNN is ISIS” and provided us with the following photo of his arrest:
WeSearchr, a crowdfunding platform from the creator of Got News, has set up a fundraiser for his legal fees.
“Assassins and Antifa attempt to take our lives and harm us, and we are forced to sit back quietly because the artistic institutions, the media, and our educational institutions are projecting calls for violence,” the fundraiser page states.
During a showing on Friday, Rebel Media correspondent and activist Laura Loomer stormed the stage declaring that it is promoting violence against the right.
“Stop the normalization of political violence against the right –” Loomer screamed as she took to the stage, and the crowd booed loudly.
Loomer was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing.
Independent journalist and author Jack Posobiec was also in the crowd, and began shouting that the blood of Steve Scalise is on the hands of those delighting in the mock assassination.
“YOU ARE INCITING TERRORISTS! THE BLOOD OF STEVE SCALISE IS ON YOUR HANDS!” Posobiec declared as security approached him.
“Because of normalized political violence against the right, and the police, some of them were sympathetic to my cause — one even winked at me and said thank you for your support. This further shows that many members of the New York public are disgusted with leftist political violence against the right,” Loomer told Big League Politics. She also urged others to follow her lead and continue protesting the remaining showings — which people clearly did.
The “Shakespeare in the Park” production does not refer to the president by name — but their Caesar character holds a striking resemblance to Trump and even has a wife with a Slavic accent similar to the First Lady.
