A campaign advisor to President Donald J. Trump who has been at the center of the phony “Russian collusion” investigation has had enough.
“Forget about all the death threats against my family. I want to know who cost us so much money, who crushed our kids, who forced us out of our home, all because you lost an election,” Michael Caputo, former Trump campaign advisor said in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday. “I want to know because G*d damn you to hell.”
The blowback from Caputo’s involvement in the Trump campaign has cost him over $125,000 in attendant legal fees, and costs to travel repeatedly from his NeW York home to Washington for meetings with Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller and his staff.
According to Caputo, the investigation is an entirely partisan attempt not to investigate a crime, but rather to ruin the lives of those who fought for a non-establishment presidential candidate. Further, the investigation sends a message to other political outsiders – do not run against the establishment or your life, and lives of everyone around you, will be ruined.
“Today, I can’t possibly pay the attendant legal costs and live near my aging father, raising my kids where I grew up,” Caputo said. “Your investigation and others into the allegations of Trump campaign collusion with Russia are costing my family a great deal of money — more than $125,000 — and making a visceral impact on my children.”
Caputo said that the members of the Mueller investigation are part of the D.C. swamp, a term often associated with establishment hacks, lifelong politicians, and bureaucrats who work on behalf of themselves and not the American people.
It is clear that Mueller and his team have no interest in investigating a crime. They are now simply investigating people, a markedly Stalinist tactic that our Constitution is supposed to prevent.
