Two Polls Show Pro-Trump Candidate Leading in U.S. Congressional Primary in Arizona

A pro-Trump candidate is in the lead in the Republican primary for U.S. Congress in Arizona’s 1st District, according to two new polls.

Internal polling conducted from July 9 – July 11 shows early endorser of President Donald J. Trump, Wendy Rogers, leading her two primary opponents.

Rogers’ internal polls show her at 21%, with the closest competitor, known RINO Tiffany Schedd, at 12%. Bringing up the rear at 7% is political neophyte and modeling agent for the Young Agency Steve Smith.

These numbers are mirrored by similar ones from a recent public survey conducted by Data Orbital.

Many voters are still undecided as the primary is more than a month away. It will be held on August 28.

Rogers is an Air Force Colonel, commissioned into the Air Force from Michigan State University with her bachelor’s degree. She received a master’s degree from the University of Alabama in Clinical Social Work.

“She began her career treating patients in the Air Force mental health clinic,” says her website. “In 1981, Wendy Rogers became one of the first 100 women pilots in today’s Air Force by earning her wings at Williams AFB in Arizona. Following Air Force jet training, Lt. Col. Rogers piloted worldwide airlift and humanitarian missions in the C-141 transport jet for several years. Lt. Col. Rogers then served as a flight instructor for cadets at the US Air Force Academy. The latter half of Col. Rogers’ 20-year Air Force career placed her overseas. While in Europe, Lt. Col. Rogers piloted Air Force C-21 Learjets and led three different operational divisions at Headquarters US Air Forces Europe.”

She finished her career with over 3,000 hours of flight time, earning numerous commendations, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

Looking forward to the general election, 31.7% of voters in AZ-01 are registered independents, meaning that appealing to the center will be key, though Arizona is a usually a solidly red state.

According to Rogers’ campaign site, she is a staunch supporter of closing the southern border. The candidate wants to “secure our borders, build the wall, and crack down on lawbreakers.”

“We must build a border wall to protect our southern border which is virtually porous,” she said. “We must end chain migration as well as the dangerous visa lottery that imports potential terrorists from nations that hate us and want to do us harm.”

“We must put American workers first, not bring in new people who drastically bring about wage suppression. Lastly, we need an E-Verify system that makes it easier to track who is coming in and out of our nation.”
