United States Creates New Permanent Agency to to Prepare for Pandemics

The United States government recently rolled out a new agency to prepare for pandemics and other “biological threats.” President Joe Biden appointed retired Air Force General Paul Friedrichs to head up the project.

On July 21, 2023 the Biden regime announced the creation of the Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy (OPPR). The agency will be in charge of the response to public health crises, organizing scientific research, and medical campaigns against pandemics, and providing regular reports to Congress.

“This will be a permanent office in the Executive Office of the President charged with leading, coordinating, and implementing actions related to preparedness for, and response to, known and unknown biological threats or pathogens,” the White House declared in a press release

As mentioned before, Friedrichs will head up the new office as a special assistant to President Joe Biden and the Senior Director for Global Health Security and Biodefense at the White House National Security Council. Friedrichs previously held the position of joint staff surgeon at the Defense Department, where he also advised the military’s Wuhan virus task force.

The OPPR  formally went into existence on August 7. Since then, Friedrichs has started assembling a team. His responsibilities consist of ensuring the Strategic National Stockpile is well-equipped with medical supplies, and working with Congress to fund for US preparedness efforts, per the New York Times.

On top of crafting a government response to pandemics in the future, the agency will discuss with industry, the scientific community, and the Department of Health and Human Services to develop the “next generation of medical countermeasures,” which includes vaccines. Its work will concentrate on Wuhan virus, monkeypox, polio, avian and human influenza, and RSV, among other viruses.

This agency is assuming  the role of the White House’s Wuhan virus response team, which was shut down back in May, the office was created under a broad-based government spending package implemented in late 2022. This agency will be required to submit a “preparedness review” to elected officials every two years, and an additional “outlook report” every five years.

As always, the government uses crises to justify further expansions in its power. That’s the nature of this beast.  For that reason, America First patriots must do everything possible to limit state encroachment during times of crisis.
