Veteran New York Police Department Officer Gets Busted For Drug Distribution Conspiracy While On Duty

On October 19, 2023, New York Police Department Officer Grace Rose Baez was arrested in addition to Cesar Martinez. The two were charged with conspiracy to to distribute narcotics and the distribution of narcotics after they allegedly attempted to sell large quantities of drugs to a federal informant between October 9 and 29.
Per authorities, Baez brought, in her own words, “top quality” fentanyl in a Mentos container to hand over to an informant in an effort to get them to purchase large quantities of other drugs.
She stated she could sell them a kilogram of heroin for $25,000 and 800 grams of fentanyl at multiple meetings with the informant. Baez was arrested following her decision to give a criminal informant what apparently was one kilogram of 400 grams of heroin and 640 grams of fentanyl described as “650 Manzana.”
Police subsequently conducted a search of the couple’s apartment and discovered a package of what they believed to be additional narcotics being discarded, in addition to a press machine and additional narcotics inside.
The pair were charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics and the distribution of narcotics according to US Attorney of the Southern District of New York Damian Williams.
Per the New York Post, Baez was placed on modified duty by the NYPD after she was charged for misconduct and was relegated to working desk duty when she was setting up meetings with the informant.
Williams stated that Baez “flagrantly violated” her oath of office “by pushing poison, including fentanyl and heroin, which are driving the nation’s deadly opioid crisis and have been responsible for thousands of tragic deaths in this city and around the nation.”
Police Commissioner Edward Caban said that if she is found guilty, Baez will have “tarnished the shield that she wore.” He continued by noting, “These charges are extremely troubling because there is no place for corruption at the NYPD.”
America is witnessing institutional decline at all levels of government. Once respected institutions are being tarnished by petty forms of corruption. This is civilizational decline at its worst. Let’s hope nationalist-minded reformers start taking power at all levels of government in the US. This is of the essence in a time of great chaos.
