VIDEO: Crazed Leftist Attacks College Republicans at UC Santa Cruz, Spits on American Flag

Published

Breitbart News reported on a video of a leftist at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), getting into a fight with UCSC College Republicans and free speech activist Hayden Williams.

Shortly after, the deranged leftist was seen spitting on an American flag, which fell on the ground during the attack.

Free speech activist Hayden Williams, who was the victim of a leftist assault at UC Berkeley while assisting Turning Point USA recruit conservative students last year, posted a video on Twitter on February 13, 2020. The video shows the individual attacking the peaceful College Republican activists.

In the video, the individual — who a College Republicans member told Breitbart News is a student at UCSC — is seen getting into a physical altercation with conservative activists, as well as tearing down the College Republicans’ banner, and spitting on an American flag.

“Yeah buddy, I think this guy’s trying to assault me,” the leftist individual gloated, as he was ripping a Trump campaign flag out of Williams’ hands, which turned into a fight that had Williams falling to the ground.

The leftist finished the physical altercation by spitting on an American flag, after taking down a banner, which read, “College Republicans at UCSC.”

“Assaulting individuals and students standing up for their rights has become commonplace on college campuses in this country,” said Williams to Breitbart.

“In a place like UC Santa Cruz, I do not expect justice or recourse from law enforcement, or disciplinary action to be taken by the school,” Williams continued. “It saddens me that this is the state of the nation and I hope we can change it for the better.”

The school’s College Republicans chapter president Dylan Temple explained that his group was outside tabling to promote their event later in the day, which had Williams as a guest speaker.

“To me, the American flag has always represented tolerance, diversity and welcoming people from all over the world to our amazing nation, a nation of great opportunity,” Temple said.

“I will continue to stand with the flag and American values despite the hostile culture of UC Santa Cruz,” he continued.

A UCSC spokesperson commented on this incident in the following statement:

Campus officials are aware of an incident that occurred between students on the afternoon of Feb. 7, as members of the UC Santa Cruz College Republicans were tabling near the entrance to Quarry Plaza. UC Santa Cruz police are investigating and hope to have the investigation completed soon.

UC Santa Cruz is committed to ensuring that all members of our campus community are able to exercise their constitutionally protected rights of free expression, speech, and assembly, and that they are able to do so in a safe environment. Free speech is uniquely important to a university, as it allows for the open exchange of ideas integral to our fundamental missions.

Our campus also champions Principles of Community. Among these principles are the belief that our diversity — in every form — makes us stronger, and that the free exchange of ideas requires mutual respect for our differences. We hold steadfast to these principles.

Greg Abbott Signs Executive Order Keeping Violent Criminals from Going Back on the Streets During the Wuhan Crisis

Published

After the Wuhan Virus was confirmed in several Texas jails in the last week, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order on March 29, 2020 that makes it more difficult for several inmates to be let out on “no-cost, personal recognizance bonds.”

Abbott tweeted, “Today I issued an Executive Order preventing [email protected] of dangerous criminals from prisons & jails. We want to prevent the spread of #COVID19 among prison staff & inmates. But, releasing dangerous criminals in the streets is not the solution. #txlege #coronavirus

Several cases of the Wuhan Virus were discovered in the Dallas County Jail and Harris County Jail last week, two of the state’s largest jails. In addition, a handful of cases were confirmed in state prisons. According to NBC DFW, the virus’ outbreak was “followed by demands to reduce the inmate populations by releasing, immediately and without bond or judicial delay, those held on misdemeanor crimes or awaiting trial on misdemeanor crimes. Some also called for non-violent felons to also be released on no-cost bonds.”

Abbott said Sunday that “releasing dangerous criminals makes the state even less safe” and issued a proclamation to prevent judges, and others, from releasing some inmates without a paid, cash bond.

In his executive order, Abbott declared that a person convicted of a crime that involved or threatened physical violence, or a person arrested for such a crime backed by probable cause, or a person with a criminal history of violent crime, cannot get out of jail on a no-cost personal recognizance bond.

With a PR bond, a defendant is released without having to post any money for his or her bond on the promise they’ll show up to their next court date.

Instead of virtue signaling and buying into the criminal justice reform movement’s desire to foment anarcho-tyranny, Abbott has held his ground by promoting public order.

A crisis like the Wuhan Virus pandemic does not need to be exacerbated by opening up the prison floodgates.

This is one case where American policymakers should use logic not emotion to craft prison policies in times of a pandemic.

Failure to do so will put the U.S. on the road to institutional failure.
