Virginia Democrat attorney general Mark Herring wore blackface at age 19 at a college party, according to Herring’s own admission.
Herring, who is third in line for governor after racist Ralph Northam and accused sexual assaulter Justin Fairfax, blames the blackface on his youthful emulation of early rapper Kurtis Blow — reminiscent of Northam’s claim that he darkened his face to look like Michael Jackson.
Herring’s statement is the latest blow for Virginia Democrats, who are still trying to figure out how to get Ralph Northam out of office for his racist yearbook photo — which might not be politically possible now, considering the scandals engulfing his next two potential gubernatorial replacements. Herring previously called for Northam to resign, stating, “It is no longer possible for Governor Northam to lead our Commonwealth and it is time for him to step down.”
Here is Herring’s statement on his own blackface past:

President Trump: Best Pro-Life President Ever?
Karen Cross, the Political Director for National Right to Life, praised President Donald Trump for his pro-life efforts during his administration.
At Life News, she wrote “President Donald J. Trump and his Administration have established more pro-life policies than any other president in history.
The National Right to Life Committee endorsed president Trump’s re-election bid on July 4, 2019.
That day, Carol Tobias, the president of National Right to Life, said:
“As our nation celebrates Independence Day, we are proud to endorse the only presidential candidate who stands for the unalienable right to life. From his first day in office, President Trump and his Administration have been dedicated to advancing policies that protect the fundamental right to life for the unborn, the elderly, and the medically dependent and disabled.”
One of the Trump administration’s first actions as president was to restore the Mexico City Policy, which bars tax funds from going to organizations that carry out abortions or lobby to bring pro-abortion laws to host countries. Trump followed up by expanding this policy to keep $9 billion in foreign aid from being used to bankroll the global abortion industry.
The Trump Administration also slashed funding to the United Nations Population Fund due to that agency’s involvement with China’s forced abortion program.
President Trump originally pledged “to veto any legislation that weakens current pro-life federal policies and laws, or that encourages the destruction of innocent human life at any state.”
According to Cross, President Trump vowed to sign the following pro-life legislative items:
- The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act;
- The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act; and
- The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.
The National Right to Life Political Director emphasized the importance of the 2020 elections. She stated that this election “will determine who appoints justices to the U.S. Supreme Court and numerous federal judges to lower courts.”
Having Republican control of the Senate will allow Trump to continue to nominate conservative judges.
So far, Trump has nominated 192 federal judges, which include U.S. Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, who were ultimately confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
Having Nancy Pelosi out of the picture as House Speaker will allow for pro-life legislation to actually move out of the House.
All in all, pro-lifers’ best bet for any type of policy change will be for Republicans to gain control of all three branches of government.
