Virginia State Police are Silent About Door-to-Door Enforcement of Suppressor Ban

AWR Hawkins of Breitbart reported that on February 10, 2020, the Virginia State Police public relations department entertained the idea of conducting door-to-door enforcement of a suppressor ban.

During a conversation on the phone that day, the Virginia State Police public relations department did not dismiss the idea of going door-to-door to enforce a suppressor ban.

According to Hawkins, Breitbart News reached out to the Virginia State Police and pointed out that Democrats are passing legislation to ban a number of firearm accessories. They called attention to the suppressor ban which is currently making progress in the state legislature and inquired if, “Virginia State Police will go door-to-door to get those.”

In typical fashion, the public relations official did not give a direct yes” or “no” answer on the question of door-to-door enforcement. Instead, she said, “[No laws] have gone into effect, no laws have been formalized or finalized.”

She added that they do not, “do the speculation because nothing’s been passed into formal law,” but set the record straight that their job is to “enforce and comply with the laws” that are on the books.

On February 9, 2020, Breitbart News provided coverage on legislation banning suppressors. The legislation received enough votes from Democrats in the House of Delegates Public Safety Committee. The Washington Examiner reported that the ban is expected to move out of the full House, and then move on to the Virginia Senate.

The suppressor ban bill also bans “high capacity” magazines.

Virginia Democrats are not wasting time to impose their will in the Virginia legislature and start slowly chipping away at Virginians’ right to bear arms.
