WAR: US Takes Out Yemeni Boats Carrying Out Blockade Against Israel in Red Sea

Towards the end of December, United States Navy helicopters sank three Yemeni naval vessels  in the Red Sea, which resulted in the killing of ten Yemenis, per a statement made by the Houthi-led Yemeni Armed Forces on December 31, 2023.

According to the statement, the Yemeni navy fighters were killed “performing their humanitarian and moral duty” to stop Israeli-connected ships or those going to Israeli ports from going through the Red Sea, “in solidarity and support for the Palestinian people.”

Since Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the Yemeni military has attacked at least 10 commercial ships that were either on their way to Israeli ports or whose owners have connections to Israel, in an attempt to halt Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza.

The statement continued, declaring “The Yemeni armed forces, while bleeding in the midst of the battle to support the Al-Aqsa Flood, accept these martyrs for the sake of Palestine and confirm that the American enemy bears the consequences of this crime and its repercussions.”

The statement continued by noting that Yemeni naval forces “succeeded in carrying out a military operation targeting the Maersk Hangzhou container ship, which was heading to the ports of occupied Palestine, with appropriate naval missiles.”

The operation came a few days after the vessel’s crew did not respond to warning calls from the Yemeni naval units.

With respect to the incident, US Central Command stated the crew of the USS Gravely destroyer initially shot down two anti-ship ballistic missiles fired at the Singapore-flagged Maersk Hangzhou on December 30. US forces destroyed the missiles after the vessel reported getting struck by a missile previously that evening as it passed through the southern Red Sea.

Four small vessels then assaulted the same cargo vessel with small arms fire early on December 31 while commandos tried to get on board the vessel, the US Navy reported.

Subsequently, the USS Gravely and helicopters from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier responded to the distress call Maersk Hangzhou made. The American naval units issued verbal warnings to the assailants, who then opened fire on the helicopters.

US Navy helicopters responded in kind by sinking three of the four boats and killing the people on board while the fourth boat escaped the area, the US Central Command said.

This is just the latest series of escalations designed to send a message to Iran, given how the Houthis in Yemen are viewed as an Iranian proxy. It remains to be seen how far the US will go in pursuing this conflict.

Due to Zionist capture of US foreign policy decision-making, the probability of conflict breaking out in the Middle East remains incredibly high. The only way to fully reduce the potential for the US to sleepwalk into a broader regional conflict that could spiral out of control and destabilize international affairs is for America First nationalists to overthrow the present ruling class.
