Washington Post Hack Calls For Media to End Live Broadcasts of Trump Coronavirus Briefings

A Washington Post opinion columnist demanded that the major news networks cease live broadcasts of President Donald Trump’s daily coronavirus briefings, harping over supposed misinformation the President is providing in his updates for the people.

Margaret Sullivan argued for the shutdown of coronavirus briefings in an op-ed published Saturday. Her moralistic call to silence the rightful President of the United States is locked behind a paywall, as is all Washington Post content- despite the legacy media outlet being owned by one of the world’s richest men, Jeff Bezos.

The cable networks and other news organizations that are taking the president’s briefings as live feeds should stop doing so.

American Presidents have always sought to communicate with the general public in times of strife and crisis. Imagine if a partisan hack tried to get Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s fireside chats off the air of the radio during World War II. Or if Confederate sympathizers tried to block the publication of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address in major newspapers.

The President’s approval ratings are growing over the handling of the Chinese coronavirus epidemic. Perhaps mainstream media operatives such as Sullivan realize they need a handicap to control the narrative. She openly admitted that the media is losing control of the narrative, which shouldn’t be a surprise as they devote more attention to the President’s terminology of ‘Chinese coronavirus’ than they do to actual efforts to contain and defeat the disease:

Business as usual simply doesn’t cut it. Minor accommodations, like fact-checking the president’s statements afterward, don’t go nearly far enough to counter the serious damage this man is doing to the public’s well-being.”

It’s a symbol of the mainstream media’s contempt for the people that they don’t believe they’re worthy of hearing directly from their leaders overseeing policy to deter the spread of the epidemic. They need a sanitized filter of partisan media operatives to provide them a curated, slanted picture of events.
