Washington State Gun Store is Forced to Cough Up $3 Million for Selling High-Capacity Ammunition Magazines

A gun store in the Seattle metropolitan area and its former owner are being forced to pay $3 million for selling high-capacity ammunition magazines despite a state prohibition, according to an announcement made by Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson on February 6, 2024.

In 2023, a King County judge determined that the gun store and its previous owner Mohammed Baghai violated Washington state’s Consumer Protection Act.

The store and Baghai sold thousands of the magazines capable of holding over 10 rounds of ammunition, after the state law prohibiting these kinds of magazines went into effect in 2022, Ferguson revealed.

Ferguson asserted that Baghai continued to sell the magazines even after the state took legal action. The attorney general characterized the violations as “egregious and brazen,” per a report by The Seattle Times.

“Federal Way Discount Guns chose to violate a critical law aimed at combating mass shootings,” Ferguson declared in a statement. “Washington businesses are following the law and stopped selling high-capacity magazines. This resolution provides accountability for someone who flagrantly violated the law.”

The store’s website has posted a link to a fundraising page that is soliciting “donations that will help us to continue to stand up against Bob Ferguson and his team’s aggression as they relentlessly go after our 2nd amendment rights.”

As of July 2022, Washington state law has criminalized the manufacturing, distribution, sale or offer to sell gun magazines that hold over 10 rounds of ammunition, with a few exceptions here and there.

Under the consent decree issued on February 6, Federal Way Discount Guns and Baghai have agreed to cough up $3 million for violating this law. Such shakedowns will send a strong message to other gun stores to not rock the boat. In fact, these and other gun control measures are part of a death by a thousand cuts approach Gun Control Inc is using to destroy gun stores nationwide, thereby depriving potentially millions of the ability to acquire affordable firearms.

This goes to show why gun owners should not even concede an inch to Gun Control Inc. on even the most marginal of gun control measures.
