WATCH: CNN’s Don Lemon Claims “Jesus, Admittedly, Was Not Perfect”

CNN pundit Don Lemon displayed a stark ignorance of the Christian religion when speaking with host Chris Cuomo in a Wednesday night segment, comparing Jesus Christ himself to the Founding Fathers of the United States. Lemon suggested that Christ was an “admittedly” imperfect historical figure.

Jesus Christ — if that’s who you believe in, Jesus Christ — admittedly, was not perfect when he was here on this Earth,” Lemon said. “So, why are we deifying the founders of this country, many of whom owned slaves?

Every major denomination of Christianity has always taught that Jesus Christ was born without sin and lived a perfect life on Earth. Lemon’s claim that Christ was “admittedly” not perfect is wholly unsourced by Scripture. The CNN host has identified as a Christian before, suggesting that Lemon is relatively unfamiliar with the basic teachings of his own religion. Cuomo, who also identifies as a Catholic, declined to correct Lemon on his erroneous understanding of the New Testament.

These are the people whom the corporate media would seek to elevate as your philosophical and intellectual betters- possessing such a vapid grasp of America and the world’s largest religion that they fundamentally misunderstand its basic teachings surrounding its essential figure.

Not to mention, that Lemon’s claim of fanatical veneration of the founding fathers on the part of traditional Americans is a pure strawman argument. Of course the founding fathers were imperfect men, as any mortal ever to live has been.
