WATCH: Matt Gaetz Shuts Down Warhawks on Fox News

A Florida congressman joined Fox News’ “The Story” with Martha McCallum Thursday night to explain why the United States should not engage in military action with Iran.

“We do not need to go to war with Iran over an unmanned drone until we have more information,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said. “You saw the President’s statements on this being potentially a mistake – an accident. I know Iran has claimed credit for this, so it’s deeply troubling, but I am done with these endless, unconstitutional, regime change wars in the Middle East.”

McCallum jumped in, asking in a befuddled manner if the United States should simply not respond to the drone takedown. Gaetz was prepared with a cogent plan for America’s response.

“You know what we need to do to respond?” Gaetz said. “Engage China to actually bring Iran to the table to stop developing their nuclear program. I think that would be the most effective response, and there would be a reason to do it because 80 percent of China’s oil comes through the Straight of Hormuz, so they have a lot more skin in the game than we do. But I do not believe that it is necessary to have a response that leads to war.”
