President Donald J. Trump Sunday announced that a former Obama administration U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) head will now lead U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Mark Morgan has been outspokenly pro-wall, and during the January budget showdown over border wall funding, came out in support of Trump’s plan to secure the border.
“I’m here today breaking my silence to tell the American people that the President is correct in what he’s doing,” he said in a January interview. “The wall works, 100 percent, and I’m here today to support his efforts and what he’s doing to get what he needs to improve border security of this great nation.”
Trump announced the decision on Twitter.
“I am pleased to inform all of those that believe in a strong, fair and sound Immigration Policy that Mark Morgan will be joining the Trump Administration as the head of our hard working men and women of ICE. Mark is a true believer and American Patriot. He will do a great job!” he said.

The appointment comes during a time of gridlock in Washington, D.C. Establishment members of both parties have refused to work with Trump to secure the border.
Big League Politics reported:
President Donald J. Trump has declared a national state of emergency, for which several heavily-blue states immediately sued his administration. Democrats refuse to budge on the issue, unwilling to secure America’s borders. As illegal border crossings surge, they blocked a meaningful amount of wall funding in the 2019 federal budget.
In what many conservatives see as a colossal failure, the Republican Congress, led by former Speaker Paul Ryan, current Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, failed to deliver wall funding to the president’s desk during all of 2017 and 2018, when Republicans held the House, the Senate, and the White House.
