WATCH: Tucker Carlson Confronts Neocon Rep Salazar Over Push For No-Fly Zone In Ukraine
The Neocons have come out of the woodworks yet again! Tucker Carlson confronted Rep. Maria Salazar, (R-FL) on his show Wednesday over her strong desire to protect the borders of Ukraine, even at the cost of the United States engaging in a full-scale war against Russia.
The Fox News host introduced the interview by replaying a previously aired clip of Salazar telling a reporter that she would support any type of initiative aimed at punishing Russian President Vladimir Putin, up to and including a no-fly-zone, which Russia more than likely would consider a declaration of war by the United States.
REPORTER: Do you support a no-fly zone in Ukraine?
REP. MARIA SALAZAR: I support everything that has to do with punishing Vladimir Putin and helping the Ukrainians.
REPORTER: Wouldn’t that mean direct conventional warfare with Russia?
REP. MARIA SALAZAR: I don’t know what it will mean, but you know, freedom is not free.
REPORTER: So you don’t know what a no-fly zone will mean. If you do have to shoot down Russian planes, I mean..
REP. MARIA SALAZAR: Of course.
GOP Rep Salazar: “Of Course” US Should Fire At Russian Planes
Carlson noted the contrast between Salazar’s “desire to send MiGs to Ukraine to preserve its borders, but not here.”
“Should we send the U.S. military to the Mexican border? Since you have admitted, that tens of millions of people have come here illegally; that our borders are porous, they’re not defended, they’re open. Should we send the U.S. military to the Mexican border?”
“All of us are appalled by the violation of Ukraine’s borders,” he added. “You don’t seem as appalled by the violation of our borders by tens of millions of people.”
Carlson said Russia could view the United States sponsored no-fly-zone as an “act of war.”
“And if that happens, then what next? And to not think about that seems negligent,” he continued.
“The question is, are we [confronting Russia] with all available risks known to the population in whose name we’re doing it?”
Carlson also asked Salazar about her predictions on the “likelihood of a retaliatory nuclear strike from Vladimir Putin” should the United States continue escalating conflicts with Vladimir Putin. Salazar refused to opine on such a matter, instead simply responding that both herself and other politicians have considered the potential of such drastic consequences.
