WATCH: Tucker Carlson Rips John Bolton a New One
Fox News host Tucker Carlson recently went off on John Bolton.
He described former national security advisor John Bolton’s departure from the Trump administration as “great news for America.”
Carlson explained that Bolton’s resignation is great news for “the large number of young people who would have been killed in pointless wars if Bolton had stayed on the job.” He added, “They may not be celebrating tonight, but they should be.”
The Fox News host poked fun at both Democrats and Republicans worried about Bolton’s exit from the Trump administration and the circumstances surrounding it, claiming that they’re overlooking the actual details of Bolton’s neoconservative agenda and the foreign policy failures he continues to defend.
He highlighted his previous segment with Bolton where he called out the former Fox News contributor’s “selective amnesia” and refusal to own up to his mistakes. Additionally, Carlson played clips of his previous warning about Bolton having power in D.C. again.
The staunch America First commentator even argued that Bolton is actually “a man of the left” and was in fact “one of the most progressive people in the Trump administration.
He expanded:
If you’re wondering why so many progressives are mourning Bolton’s firing tonight, it’s because Bolton himself fundamentally was a man of the left. There was not a human problem John Bolton wasn’t totally convinced could be solved with the brute force of government. That’s an assumption of the left, not the right. Don’t let the mustache fool you. John Bolton was one of the most progressive people in the Trump administration. By the way, naturally, once he was ensconced there, Bolton promoted Obama loyalists within the National Security Council. That shouldn’t surprise you either.
Carlson nails it in his criticism of Bolton.
Bolton represented one of the most subversive neoconservative elements within the Trump administration.
His presence practically ensured the perpetuation of the defense industry’s interests in the Trump era and served as a hidden force working behind the shadows to undermine Trump’s restrained foreign policy agenda.
With Bolton out of the way, Trump can re-assert more of his America First principles and get his administration in line.
There is no question that Trump still has to clean up his administration, but getting Bolton out of the way is a good first step.
