‘We Will Adopt Your Baby,’ Couple’s Photo Goes Viral as an Alternative to Abortion

Couples have found creative ways of taking the abortion issue into their own hands with the help of social media.

The idea was first sparked from a couple in 2015  when they posted on social media a handmade sign asking women to consider adoption as opposed to abortion. Creating a sign that said “we will adopt your baby”, the Cook family stated in their Facebook post that they “are serious” about taking in children – it wasn’t just a “good idea”. The couple took their signs to a local abortion clinic, begging women to choose life for their baby. Kevin Cook posted on Facebook with the viral photo:

“If anyone out there reads this and is considering abortion, I will take your baby. My wife and I will gladly take all your babies! I’m completely serious. If you are pregnant and don’t want your child, we will. It’s not a fetus. It’s a blessing. Life matters.”

After starting their adoption journey, the couple started a GoFundMe to help pay for the adoption costs. Their viral post gave the couple a platform to help women choose life and adoption for their unplanned pregnancies.

Following the Cook family’s lead, another couple created a similar sign – resulting in another viral post. Posting early this year, Blake and Sarah Thomas knew they had to respond to the horrible New York law on abortion. “We wanted to put a face to adoption and help women realize there is another great option available to them,” Sarah Thomas said, according to Liftable.

“God has given us a love for orphans and we are willing to open our home and our hearts to as many children as God sees fit to give us,” Sarah continued.

Since the viral post, the Thomas family is in the beginning stages of adoption with one of the mothers they connected with. Their Facebook post indicated that numerous pregnant women reached out to them and they have now been referred to crisis pregnancy centers to help with their decision. Overwhelmed by how God has blessed the couple, Sarah Thomas stated:

“Our prayer is that Christian’s would come together to support and love these mother’s instead of making them feel shamed or guilted for considering abortion. So many families would be willing to adopt or help these mother’s keep their babies, but unless the mother’s know it many will choose the only choice they feel is available to them.”
