The Beagle Freedom Project, a nonprofit animal advocacy and rescue organization, sent a letter to Dr. Fauci demanding he and the NIH immediately stop funding research using animals, TMZ reported.
In the letter, obtained by TMZ, the organization rips animal testing as outdated, flawed, cruel, unethical, and harmful and demands an end once and for all, with a threat of pursuing legislative action and subsequent criminal prosecution should the practice continue.
The letter was written by the President & Founder of the Beagle Freedom Project, Shannon Keith.
“Bearing witness to what you and your organization does to these animals is nothing short of criminal. It is time to end it, and now the world is watching,” president and founder Shannon Keith wrote.
“If it does not end immediately, Beagle Freedom Project will make sure it becomes criminal and those who perpetrate it will be punished by law.”
She cited the FDA Modernization Act, a bipartisan bill that was introduced to end the outdated mandate that experimental drugs must be tested on animals.
“If science and wasteful taxpayer spending are not enough to convince you, perhaps legal changes will,” she wrote.
This comes after a bipartisan letter signed by multiple lawmakers was sent to Fauci and the NIH demanding answers for their cruel experiments on beagles in Tunisia, which Big League Politics previously covered.
White Coat Waste claimed that 44 beagle puppies were experimented on in a laboratory located in Tunisia, North Africa. Some of the dogs had their vocal cords removed, allegedly so scientists could work without ‘incessant barking.’
“Our investigators show that Fauci’s NIH division shipped part of a $375,800 grant to a lab in Tunisia to drug beagles and lock their heads in mesh cages filled with hungry sand flies so that the insects could eat them alive,” White Coat Waste told Changing America. “They also locked beagles alone in cages in the desert overnight for nine consecutive nights to use them as bait to attract infectious sand flies.”
