STATE COLLEGE, PENN. — Wearing a Penn State hat and surrounded by fawning students, loser U.S. Senate challenger from Texas Beto O’Rourke makes his appeal for 2020, repeating extreme and discredited warming scenarios from climate change proponents, according to reports.
“If it warms another degree Celsius going forward, we are screwed — that is the term the scientists use,” O’Rourke quipped, adding that “even if we all band together in the face of this threat and this challenge, it’s not going to be enough. It’s going to take the world.”
Local newspapers caught the majority of his speech, given to an audience of only a couple-hundred students.
“He drew big cheers talking about the need for the U.S to resume its role as a global leader on climate change, saying that U.S. alone cannot make enough changes to avert the rapidly unfolding crisis and the threats of increasingly severe weather events,” wrote Laura Olson at the Morning Call.
Elsewhere, Beto has made similar “doom-and-gloom” weather predictions, even going so far as to predict “when” the “end” will come for the world; that is, if America doesn’t grind its economy to a screeching hault.
“The scientists are unanimous on this. We have no more than 12 years to take incredibly bold action on this crisis,” O’Rourke said. “Can we make it? I don’t know. It’s up to every one of us. Do you want to make it?”
Other scientists — literally hundreds, if not thousands of them — disagree that there is even dangerous warming trend, and question the weather is anthropogenic in nature.
According to O’Rourke:
We should do nothing less than marshal every resource in the country to meet that challenge, to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, to get to net zero emissions, which means not only must we emit less greenhouse gasses, we must plant things that absorb greenhouse gasses and carbon and invest in the technology to allow us to claim some that are in the air now.
And we have 12 years to do it, the losing candidate from Texas reiterates. He compares his “chicken little” fallacy to “those who were on the beaches in Normandy,” referring to the millions who died liberating Europe. Beto suggests America’s belief in thoroughly-discredited climate change hyperbole is synonymous with such heroism.
His comparisons to WWII bravery appear to be a direct lift from socialist Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who recently stated, “So we talk about existential threats, the last time we had a really major existential threat to this country was around World War II. And so we’ve been here before and we have a blueprint of doing this before.”
Ocasio-Cortez would go even further, imposing a de facto self-sterilization policy. “It may not be ethical to have children, given the difficulties that climate change will likely cause in the years to come,” states Cortez, stressing the coming pain of “climate change.”
“There’s scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult. And it does lead young people to have a legitimate question: Is it OK to still have children?”
