Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) took aim at President Donald Trump’s trade agenda today, essentially holding the President’s proposed trade deal hostage unless he removes tariffs.
In an op/ed published by the globalist Wall Street Journal, Grassley paid lip service to the economic progress caused by Trump’s trade policies before giving the President an ultimatum: end the tariffs or he will sink the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
“The administration can take the lead by promptly lifting tariffs on steel and aluminum from Canada and Mexico and working with allies to address the true source of overcapacity: China,” wrote Grassley, who serves as chairman of the Finance Committee.
