Donald Trump Calls Out Mitch McConnell for Attempting to Bail Out Democrats’ Infrastructure Bill

By Shane Trejo

Former president Donald Trump is calling out Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and other Republican lawmakers for trying to bailout the Democrats’ infrastructure bill.

The negotiations on the infrastructure bill are typical swamp politics, with Democrats putting forward abominable legislation, and corrupt Republicans coming in hoping to add some of their own preferred wasteful spending to the bill in the hopes of ramming the bill through the legislature.

Trump does not find this process to be acceptable and is calling on Republicans to halt negotiations until the GOP controls the U.S. House and Senate.

“Senate Republicans are being absolutely savaged by Democrats on the so-called ‘bipartisan’ infrastructure bill,” Trump said in a statement as D.C. Republicans and Democrats negotiate the deal in smoke-filled backrooms.

“It is so important to [McConnell] that he is agreeing to almost anything,” Trump added. “Don’t do the infrastructure deal, wait until after we get proper election results in 2022 or otherwise, and regain a strong negotiating stance. Republicans, don’t let the Radical Left play you for weak fools and losers!”

The Democrats’ infrastructure legislation is a national embarrassment with very little of the money spent in the proposed bill going toward actual infrastructure. The Koch-backed free market group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) has dissected the legislation and are pointed out its many glaring faults.

“President Biden’s so-called infrastructure proposal puts our country in reverse. The most expensive plan in American history paid for by one of the largest tax increases in history might be unprecedented in size and scope, but is old in substance,” AFP President Tim Phillips said.

“This is not an investment in our future, but a rehash of tired ideas we know won’t work: enormous federal spending on partisan priorities that have nothing to do with roads and bridges, historic tax increases that will crush small businesses and reduce workers’ wages, special interest carveouts that rig the economy in favor of the well connected, and favors to labor unions that undermine workers’ rights and their ability to find work,” he added.

AFP points to problematic provisions in the bill, including a reversal of aspects of President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, banning right-to-work laws, implementing parts of the Green New Deal, and spending trillions on Democrat pet projects meant to buy off voters.

“This plan is built on the notion that government is the solution to everything and represents a massive expansion of its command over the economy and its ability to dictate winners and losers in the marketplace,” Phillips said.

“We should be going the other way – keeping tax burdens on Americans low so they can keep more of what they earn, prioritizing spending to areas of greatest need, and removing regulatory barriers that make it harder for people to get to work and for businesses to build and innovate,” he added.

Although AFP and Trump have clashed in the past, they are fully united in opposition to this infrastructure legislation. McConnell and other RINOs need to let the bill die instead of looking for ways to cash out on the legislation for their special interest backers.
