The voter fraud epidemic is likely to continue without any real reform before next year’s presidential election, at least if Federal Election Commission Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub has her way.
She issued a partisan letter to President Donald Trump last week, defending the electoral integrity of elections across the U.S. while tearing at her superior for his repeated claims that there is widespread voter fraud.

“Facts matter. And people of America need to be able to believe what their leaders tell them,” she said.
Weintraub claimed that Trump’s push to clean up elections was seen as an insult to local and state governments, scoffing at the notion that any serious fraud takes place.
“I’m not aware of them handing any evidence over to the local law enforcement authorities who would have jurisdiction over what happened in their own states,” Weintraub said.
“In fact, I’ve heard from folks at the state and local level who were offended by this. They thought it was insulting to the way they ran their elections in each and every state to suggest that they would allow this kind of rampant voter fraud to go on,” she added.
Weintraub also accused Trump of doing damage to democracy with his notion that widespread voting fraud is occurring.
“To be suggesting to people that if the candidate that they don’t like — if the candidate they choose doesn’t win, that it’s because of fraud, that undermines our democracy. It undermines people’s faith. Once that faith is broken, it is very hard to build up again,” she said.
However, results from the Michigan recount in the corruption-riddled city of Detroit after the 2016 general election did show systemic fraud:
Voting machines in more than one-third of all Detroit precincts registered more votes than they should have during last month’s presidential election, according to Wayne County records prepared at the request of The Detroit News.
Detailed reports from the office of Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett show optical scanners at 248 of the city’s 662 precincts, or 37 percent, tabulated more ballots than the number of voters tallied by workers in the poll books…
Democrat Hillary Clinton overwhelmingly prevailed in Detroit and Wayne County. But Republican President-elect Donald Trump won Michigan by 10,704 votes or 47.5 percent to 47.3 percent.
Overall, state records show 10.6 percent of the precincts in the 22 counties that began the retabulation process couldn’t be recounted because of state law that bars recounts for unbalanced precincts or ones with broken seals.
The problems were the worst in Detroit, where discrepancies meant officials couldn’t recount votes in 392 precincts, or nearly 60 percent. And two-thirds of those precincts had too many votes.
Journalist John Fund and Hans A. von Spakovsky of the Heritage Foundation’s Election Law Reform Initiative, two leading experts on the issue, wrote an op/ed in 2017 praising Trump for shining a light on the crucial issue of voter fraud.
This refusal to enforce the law came despite a 2012 study from the Pew Center on the States estimating that one out of every eight voter registrations is inaccurate, out-of-date or a duplicate. About 2.8 million people are registered in more than one state, according to the study, and 1.8 million registered voters are dead. In most places it’s easy to vote under the names of such people with little risk of detection…
A 2011 study by three professors at Old Dominion University and George Mason University used extensive survey data to estimate that 6.4 percent of the nation’s noncitizens voted in 2008 and that 2.2 percent voted in 2010.
This study has been criticized by many academics who claim that voter fraud is vanishingly rare. Yet the Heritage Foundation maintains a list of more than 700 recent convictions for voter fraud…
The Washington Post conducted a poll last October using the Pollfish firm that found 84 percent of Republicans believe that a “meaningful amount” of voter fraud occurs in U.S. elections, along with 75 percent of independents. A majority of Democrats — 52 percent — also believed there was meaningful voter fraud. When it came to types of fraud, nearly 60 percent of Republicans told Pollfish they believed illegal immigrants were voting, but so too did a third of independents and a quarter of Democrats…
The danger looms large in states such as California, which provides driver’s licenses to noncitizens, including those here illegally, and which also does nothing to verify citizenship during voter registration.
Weintraub is a life-time Democrat who once served as legal counsel for Perkins Coie, the firm that hired Fusion GPS to create the dubious Steele dossier that prompted the bogus Russian collusion investigation. She will likely continue using her bureaucratic post to undermine the President, even if it means enabling voter fraud.
