According to a new survey, half of American voters approve of the Supreme Court’s ruling on Roe v. Wade giving abortion rights to states.
Per the survey: “Even though more voters identify as pro-choice than pro-life, full half of them approve of the recent Supreme Court ruling that overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.”
The Rassmussen Reports survey showed that out of the 50% of US voters that approve of the ruling, 38% said they “strongly approve.” Moreover, 45% said they disapprove, while 38% of that group said they “strongly disapprove.”
When it came down to Republican voters, a whopping 75% approved of the SCOTUS decision. While 71% disapproved of the ruling – showcasing a large divide over the issue between party lines.
These findings may come as a surprise to many Americans who have seen social media flooded with outraged posts about the Supreme Court decision and its implications on so-called “women’s healthcare.”
TV pundits have been voicing their vitriol for the news, with leading talking heads like Hilary Clinton claiming that the recent SCOTUS ruling was just the beginning of many more rollbacks of rights in America.
She also notably stated that “women are going to die” because of the decision.
For many, social media has been a nauseating display of gaslighting and virtue-signaling from angry leftists who are upset with the SCOTUS ruling. Many accounts have made false claims about what this decision will mean for “civil rights” across the nation, even though this survey shows that those outcries may not be as mainstream as Americans have been led to believe.
For instance, the survey showed that 52% percent of voters consider themselves “pro-choice.” With 41% describing themselves as “pro-life.” More women voters considered themselves “pro-choice” compared to men, the report showed.
It has been argued that voters who are pleased with the SCOTUS ruling may not be as vocal online compared to those who are outraged. On top of that, pro-choice rhetoric is being screamed from the hilltops by celebrities and left-wing influential figures who are using their platforms to “de-legitimize” the decision.
On Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show recently, “Stranger Things” star Maya Hawke, daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, said, “I can say, ‘F*** the Supreme Court’? Oh, f*** the Supreme Court. Yeah, rock on.”
Hawke was met with applause and laughter. “But we’re going to keep fighting, and we’re gonna win, like our grandmothers did,” she continued.
Fallon responded: “I appreciate you saying that. Thank you for saying that message.”
Similar exchanges are happening all across mainstream media, with hardly any comments from the other side of the argument.
This Rassmussen Reports survey highlights the disconnect between Hollywood and the average American on hot-button topics like abortion in the country.
