The corporate press can no longer ignore the crisis at the border.
According to CBS News, over 3,200 migrant children remained in Customs and Border Protection facilities on March 8, 2021. It noted that this number was the “highest in the agency’s history.”
In addition, the CBS observed that “Nearly half are held beyond a three-day legal limit.”
CNN reported that this number of unaccompanied minors broke the record set in 2019 when there was a significant migrant surge. These children were apprehended after illegally crossing the border without a parent.
According to the CNN report, the children are currently being held in cells that are not designed for children. At the moment, Border Patrol cannot release the children to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) because of the overcrowding that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is facing in its long-term shelters.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas made a brisk visit to the southern border which received little media coverage. President Joe Biden was not initially briefed on the trip. According to official reports, Biden is expected to be briefed on the matter in the next few days.
The Biden administration has no grip on the immigration question. Immigration is a foundational issue that separates functioning political entities from those that are mired in chaos.
Any serious political campaign in the 2022 elections must have immigration restriction as a top 3 issue. A legitimate humanitarian crisis is taking place at the border, along with national security concerns with regards to the growing transnational activity of Mexican cartels. This requires strong political leadership that’s willing to make tough decisions on immigration.
The current crop of leaders in D.C. are not up to the task and must be replaced with America First patriots.
