Incoming National Security Advisor Says Trump Will Push for Lower Conscription Age in Ukraine

By Shane Trejo

President Trump’s choice to serve as his national security advisor, former Congressman Mike Waltz, is saying that it will be a priority of the Trump administration to urge Ukraine to lower its conscription age from 25 to 18.

“The other thing we are going to need to see is really stabilizing things on the battlefield. And one of the things we’ll be asking of the Ukrainians is, they have real manpower issues,” Waltz said while speaking with ABC News.

“Their draft age right now is 26 years old [25], not 18. I don’t think a lot of people realize that they could generate hundreds of thousands of new soldiers. So, when we hear about morale problems when we hear about issues on the front line. Look, if the Ukrainians have asked the entire world to be all in for democracy, we need them to be all in for democracy,” he added.

The fact that Waltz is pressuring Donald Trump to push for more young people to be thrown into the meat grinder in Ukraine for the military-industrial complex should come as no surprise considering his terrible foreign policy record as a Congressman.

Big League Politics has reported on Waltz being a neocon extremist who makes even ‘Loose’ Lindsey Graham look like a dove by comparison:

Donald Trump has appointed Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) as National Security Advisor, promoting a neoconservative war hawk into a position overseeing foreign policy in the second Trump administration.

As a Congressman, Waltz has a long history of opposing an America First foreign policy. He has been a mouthpiece for militarism, giving full-throated support of endless war.

Independent journalist Michael Tracey has exposed the long history of Waltz supporting interventionist foreign policy, commonly agreeing with the likes of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).

Waltz also called for President Joe Biden to be more hawkish and get America involved in more wars. He went on Fox News to call upon Biden to bomb Iran last year.

Waltz has stated that the U.S. should be more belligerent and aggressive toward Ukraine. He made a statement calling for stronger economic sanctions against Russia, adding that “taking the handcuffs off of the long-range weapons we provided to Ukraine” would force Russian President Vladimir Putin’s hand.

Waltz got his start in politics working for Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld at the height of the George W. Bush administration.“

President Trump is setting himself up for subversion similar to his first term in office by hiring bums like Waltz to serve in key national security positions.
