First reported by Far Left Watch, ride-sharing company Lyft has announced a partnership with an anti-Trump non-profit that will provide free rides to polling stations for Latino voters on election day.
“For underserved communities, we’ll provide rides free of cost through nonpartisan, nonprofit partners, including Voto Latino, local Urban League affiliates, and the National Federation of the Blind,” according to the company’s website.
Voto Latino is a demonstrably anti-Trump non-profit. According to an Open Secrets report, the group spent all $1.3 million in its coffers against President Donald J. Trump’s campaign in 2016.
Unsurprisingly, the group has worked on behalf of sanctuary cities across the country.
“Today the House will vote on two key pieces of legislation that would ramp up President Trump’s mass deportation agenda and harm public safety,” Voto Latino wrote in a 2017 press release. “The bills introduced by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), “Kate’s Law” and the “No Sanctuary for Criminals Act,” are unconstitutional, criminalize immigrants and make it difficult for local law enforcement to keep communities safe. The laws would implement more severe penalties for illegal re-re-entry and withhold millions in federal funding from cities and states that fail to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.”
The group also fights against Voter ID laws. Americans are constantly told that illegal immigrants do not vote – that’s just a conspiracy theory peddled by “racist” Republicans. So why would a Latino voting non-profit spend resources fighting such laws?
“Voto Latino, the leading non-profit organization empowering American Latino millennials by engaging them through civic media, released the following statement by President and CEO Maria Teresa Kumar on today’s decision by a federal appeals court striking down North Carolina’s discriminatory voter ID law, the first enacted after the Shelby v. Holder Supreme Court decision in 2013,” according to a 2016 press release.
Lyft will lose money on November 6, as they will still have to pay their drivers for the rides that they will give away for free. Essentially, they are donating company profits to a Democrat non-profit.
Big League Politics reached out to Lyft to see if they will report their free rides to polls as in-kind contributions to the Democrat Party.
The company declined to comment.
