Sanctuary city mayors that harbor illegal immigrants who cause the death of another person are subject to face the death penalty themselves, according to federal law.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions held a press conference Wednesday in the Sanctuary City of Sacramento, California after suing the state of California for defying federal immigration law. An illegal alien is currently on trial for murdering a police officer in Sacramento in 2014.
8 U.S. Code 1324 makes it clear that the death penalty is a charge available to anyone who knowingly harbors illegal aliens who commit a crime leading to death. Deaths of Americans at the hand of illegal aliens — through murder and through drunk driving and other means — is becoming an alarming problem across the United States. Nevertheless, so-called “Sanctuary City” mayors are doubling down on their defiance of federal immigration law, refusing to deport the illegals lurking within their city limits.
According to 8 U.S. Code 1324 (emphasis added):
(iii)
(iv)
encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law; or(v)
(iv)in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) resulting in the death of any person, be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, fined under title 18, or both…”
Illegal aliens have been engaging in murder and similar crimes at an alarming rate in recent years.
Luis Enrique Monroy Bracamontes, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, stated at trial in January that he wished he had killed more police officers after he allegedly murdered two of them in 2014 near a motel in Sacramento and in the nearby town of Auburn, California, respectively. Sacramento is a sanctuary city.
Illegal immigrant Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, an illegal alien, killed a 32-year old woman named Kate Steinle in the Sanctuary City of San Francisco. He was found not guilty of murder because the jury felt the shooting death was an accident, but he was convicted on immigration and firearm charges.
An illegal alien who had been deported twice before allegedly killed Indiana Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson in a drunk driving incident in February. There is a movement underway to make Indianapolis a sanctuary city.
An illegal alien recently allegedly crashed into an ambulance in Winston-Salem, North Carolina prior to the death of a 3-year old who was riding in the ambulance. There is a movement to make Winston-Salem a sanctuary city.
