In the latest twist in the resurfacing Hunter Biden scandal, ‘Morning Joe’ has apparently absolved itself of any wrongdoing.
The outlet released a statement saying that they had no part in the Hunter Biden laptop story, and that they were only reporting on what was happening in the 2020 election.
All this comes after many Americans accused ‘Morning Joe’ of being overtly biased against Hunter Biden during the lead up to the 2020 presidential election.
Now, with the Hunter Biden laptop story back in the headlines, ‘Morning Joe’ is desperately trying to distance itself from the whole debacle. But at this point, it’s too little too late. The damage has been done.
On Wednesday, “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski began the segment by citing a “new” Washington Post story that included Hunter Biden’s lawyers sending a cease-and-desist letter to the New York Post over its coverage of the laptop.
Then co-host Joe Scarborough joined in, fixating his comments on how the “Trump right” can use the Hunter Biden controversy as a “whataboutism.” A word that was used a whopping seven times during the segment.
Of course, Hunter Biden’s laptop scandal is not a “whataboutism.” Nor is it another example of “republicans pouncing.” It’s a legitimate news story that corporate media outlets like ‘Morning Joe’ chose to ignore for months.
Now that it’s back in the headlines, they’re obviously scrambling to distance themselves from it.
As many were quick to mention, Scarborough and Brzezinski are both longtime friends of the Biden family. In fact, Hunter once worked at MSNBC. Which could explain why they were so quick to try and shut down any discussion of the Hunter Biden scandal on their show.
Claire McCaskill, an analyst from MSNBC, insisted voters who chose Joe Biden “knew Hunter Biden was a problem.” Somehow linking the situation to the election of Bill Clinton where voters were supposedly well aware he was “not as pure as the driven snow.”
McCaskill even chalked up the entire Hunter Biden scandal as family “dysfunction.”
This is the same Hunter Biden who was discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine. And the same Hunter Biden who was paid $50,000 a month by a Ukrainian energy company while his father was vice president and in charge of U.S.-Ukraine relations.
It’s stunning that the same people who spent years lecturing us about Donald Trump’s family are now trying to sweep Hunter Biden’s scandal under the rug.
The liberal media has always held a double standard.
