A pro-Hezbollah activist who openly hates Israel, a United States ally, and celebrated a deadly 2015 terror attack on the nation, attended the swearing-in ceremony and dinner party for freshmen Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).
‘I was honored to be at Congresswoman @RashidaTlaib swearing in ceremony in #Detroit and private dinner afterward with the entire family, friends and activists across the country,” said Abbas Hamideh.
Hamideh is the executive director of the Palestine Right to Return Coalition, a non-profit located in Cleveland. He is an open supporter of terrorist organization Hezbollah, and openly bragged about a 2015 Hezbollah attack that Israeli soldiers.
“BREAKING NEWS: 15 Israeli soldiers killed in #Hezbollah attack near the Lebanon border. 1 soldier reportedly missing,” he said overzealously on Twitter.
The Guardian confirmed later that two soldiers, not 15, were killed in the attack, which must have disappointed Abbas.
Many of his other Tweets are jihadist propaganda, praising the fierceness of Hezbollah.
“israeli terrorist diaper soldiers aren’t made for real battles that include a fierce resistance organization like Hezbollah. No chance,” he said in 2016.
He also actively encouraged terrorist attacks against Israel, apparently not a violation of Twitter’s terms of service, or worrisome for newly-elected Tlaib.
Funny how some pro #FSA are calling #Hezbollah attacks on israel as ‘theatrics.’ I hope they keep giving us more of it actually,” he said in 2015.
#FSA is the Free Syrian Army.
“Just remember Hezbollah Missiles don’t need visas to enter occupied #Palestine,” he said in 2014 with a grinning emoji.
There are hundreds of Tweets of this nature on Hamideh’s account.
Big League Politics has been reporting on Tlaib’s sympathy for radical Islamists. She assaulted Jewish journalist Laura Loomer at a campaign event for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), draped herself in a Palestinian flag when she was elected to the U.S. Congress, and Tweeted support for fired CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill, who called for the destruction of Israel “from the river to the sea,” which Hamideh has also done.
After vulgarly calling for the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump, an impeachment petition against Tlaib took off, garnering over 150,000 signatures.
Tlaib’s office did not immediately return a comment request.
