America First congressional candidate Joe Kent will now face off against incumbent Washington Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez after a strong performance in the top-two primary system on August 6, 2024.
Gluesenkamp Perez picked up 46.9% of the vote, while Kent picked up 38.4% of the vote. Under this system, the top two candidates who receive the most votes move on to the general election
Washington’s third Congressional district will now witness a rematch between Gluesenkamp Perez and Kent. Gluesenkamp Perez won her election against Kent in 2022 by a narrow 50.1%-49.3% margin.
At his primary night party, Kent announced that he received a call from former President Donald Trump congratulating Kent for his victory.
“We did really well,” Kent said to his supporters. “We’ve got a lot of really hard work ahead of us. Marie [Gluesenkamp] Perez and the Democrats are nothing to laugh at. These guys are very, very serious. They’re going to run a very hard campaign.”
Kent is an America First Republican who supports immigration restriction and a restrained foreign policy. He is a United States Special Forces veteran, where he served for 20 years. Afterwards, Kent worked as a field operative in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and served as a foreign policy advisor to President Donald Trump.
Should he be elected to Congress, Kent would be a solid America First addition. We’re going to need all the help we can get in our quest to restore order in America.
