Russia Warns the United States of a Potential “Military Clash” if More Military Aid is Sent to Ukraine

By Jose Nino

Russia believes that the United States government’s move to deploy more arms to Ukraine constitutes an “immediate threat” to Russia’s national security interests and increases the risk of a direct military confrontation between Russia and the Collective West.

“The supply of military products by the US and its allies not only entails protracted bloodshed and new casualties, but also increases the danger of a direct military clash between Russia and Western countries,” Russia’s Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov declared on the Telegram messaging app on October 5, 2022.

“We perceive this as an immediate threat to the strategic interests of our country,” Antonov stated, following US President Joe Biden’s promise to send a new $625-million military aid package to Ukraine on October 4.

The US package is composed of High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launchers. These systems have figured prominently in Ukraine’s recent counter-offensive campaign against Russian forces, which has caused strategic withdrawals in areas such as Kharkov.

In recent weeks, Washington rolled out a $1.1-billion arms package for Ukraine, which was made up of 18 HIMARS launcher systems, additional arms, several counter drone systems, and radar systems.

According to a Press TV report, this recent announcement of military aid “would mark more than $16.8 billion worth of US security military aid” to Ukraine since Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine on February 24.

This latest aid package is the first since Russia incorporated the four Ukrainian territories of Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia via controversial referendums.

Antonov cautioned the US government to halt its “provocative actions” that could generate “serious consequences.” He believes that further military aid could lead to an all-out war between the US and Russia.

The US government needs to understand its limits. It can’t say with a straight face that it’s not playing a critical role in fomenting a conflict in Ukraine by sending tons of military aid to be used against Russia.

Eventually, Russia will treat such behavior as bellicose actions and respond kinetically. The result could potentially be catastrophic. Let us pray for restraint in this case.

Any kind of unnecessary escalation in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict could potentially make it go nuclear.
