Truckers Plan to Show Their Frustration Toward Michigan’s Anti-Trump Governor at Protest on Wednesday

By Shane Trejo

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has enraged the working people of Michigan with her decrees shutting down economic activity and private life until the end of April.

The backbone of America, the truckers, are expected to show up by the hundreds for Wednesday’s “Operation Gridlock” rally at Noon in Lansing, Mich., outside of the State Capitol. Protesters are being told to stay in their cars, as leaving them could subject individuals to a $1000 fine under Whitmer’s edicts, and create a traffic jam to show their disdain for their anti-Trump governor.

39-year-old Jim TenHaaf is the owner of AAA Poured Walls, a concrete contractor company operating out of Wayland, MI on the west side of the state. He told Big League Politics that many patriotic Michiganders intend to bring their big rigs and other large trucks to the rally in order to demonstrate solidarity with the working people of Michigan against the governor.

“We’ve got a decent group getting gathered together to head out of the greater Grand Rapids area on Wednesday,” TenHaaf explained.

TenHaaf hopes to bring a cement truck to the rally, but licensing and regulation issues may prevent him from doing so. Even if he cannot bring a cement truck, he says that he knows hundreds of individuals who will be bringing large trucks to crowd the Lansing roads.

“I do have hundreds and hundreds of landscape trucks, concrete equipment trucks, form trucks, pump trucks. Just a lot of people in building and construction industries that are showing up in a strong force,” he said.

TenHaaf believes the time has come for the people to fight back due to the economic damage that is happening throughout the state and across the country. The overreach is intensifying as well. Gov. Whitmer declared that gardening companies are a non-essential business last week and now has state officials harassing people on boats.

TenHaaf paraphrased former President Ronald Reagan from his first inaugural address when he said: “…it is not my intention to do away with government. It is, rather, to make it work-work with us, not over us; to stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it.”

“It’s very easy for government just to shut things down, but the hard thing is to work next to us and figure out how to get through this,” TenHaaf said. “Michiganders want to work. We are hard workers. We have a fire that burns in our soul to work and provide for their families, and we’re not even allowed to do that!”

“So before this fire gets extinguished, we need to get the ball rolling and keep hope alive especially for these small businesses being hit so hard. They are losing hope and we cannot let that happen,” he added.

Organizers are expecting as many as 15,000 cars in the streets of the State Capitol tomorrow as populist anger explodes throughout Michigan because of Whitmer’s intolerable acts.

“Quarantine is when you restrict movement of sick people. Tyranny is when you restrict the movement of healthy people,” Meshawn Maddock, an organizer with the Michigan Conservative Coalition, said while appearing on Fox News. “Every person has learned a harsh lesson about social distancing. We don’t need a nanny state to tell people how to be careful.”

Democrats have attempted to spin the rally as a showing of “corporate greed,” vilifying protesters who have lost their livelihood amidst the shutdown.

Democrats may learn that they have pushed the people of Michigan too far with their stay-at-home tyranny when the truckers come to Lansing on Wednesday. The official Facebook page for the “Operation Gridlock” event can be accessed here.
