A Florida police officer has died after he was shot in the head by an illegal immigrant with a lengthy criminal record last week.
“It is with a heavy heart that we inform our community that Fort Myers Police Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller has passed away as a result of the injuries sustained on Saturday, July 21st,” said a statement released by the FMPD. “We ask that you continue to pray for Officer Jobbers-Miller’s family, friends and our entire Fort Myers Police Department Family.”
Officer Jobbers-Miller responded to a call at a Marathon Gas Station on the evening of July 21 when an illegal immigrant from Haiti opened fire. He was shot in the head and rushed to the hospital by a fellow officer, where he was in critical but stable condition after surgery.
The alleged perpetrator is Wisner Desmaret, 29, who has had several run-ins with law enforcement in the nation that welcomed him though he broke our laws to be here.
A violent illegal immigrant whose with an incredibly long rap sheet has finally allegedly committed a crime serious enough for his potential deportation.
“[The suspect] has been identified as 29-year-old Wisner Desmaret,” said Fox4. “He will be facing at least 8 felony charges, including Attempted 1st Degree Murder. He is the only suspect in the case.”
Desmaret shot Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller in the head. Jobbers-Miller is in the hospital in critical but stable condition.
The shooter has a long and sordid history of run-ins with the law.
In 2010 “Desmaret made his first appearance on the Lee County Sheriff’s arrest website,” according to News-Press. “He would appear there a dozen more times in addition to arrests in Glades, Orange and Sarasota counties.
“Desmaret was arrested in Glades County on Dec. 4, 2008, and held for nearly two months before he was released to U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement officials at the Krome facility in Broward County, according to Glades County records,” said News-Press.
He was arrested and jailed for possession of a controlled substance, smuggling contraband into a detention center and resisting arrest without violence in 2011, and two hours after his release, was caught burglarizing a home. During the burglary incident he held the police at bay in four-hour standoff.
“He had been arrested in December 2016 and charged with possession of cocaine and carrying a concealed weapon – multiple knives were hidden in his clothing and the handle of a large kitchen knife was sticking out of his shorts – according to the arrest affidavit. His bond of $2,000 was posted the same day,” said News-Press.
In 2017, Desmaret was arrested twice. Once he was found incompetent to stand trial. The other charge, which was for trespassing, was dropped.
For the 2016 possession charge, Desmaret has yet to stand trial. He was committed in March with the state decided if he was competent to stand trial. On July 10, he was deemed competent, and released with restrictions to await trial.
“According to court documents, Desmaret was given rules to follow that included notifying the court if he left the county overnight, refraining from criminal activity and complying with all medications,” said News-Press.
Instead, he shot a cop in the head.
BLP Passage Ends.
There will be no rallies, protests, or outrage for Officer Jobbers-Miller, who has now been permanently separated from his family because of the actions of an illegal immigrant.
No sane country allows this type of behavior to go unchecked.
