Update: Georgetown Professor Who Wanted to Castrate Men’s Corpses Suspended From Twitter

By Peter D'Abrosca

The Georgetown University professor who put her misandry on display with a graphic Tweet about killing men and castrating their corpses has been suspended from the microblogging site.

“Look at thus [sic] chorus of entitled white men justifying a serial rapist’s arrogated entitlement. All of them deserve miserable deaths while feminists laugh as they take their last gasps. Bonus: we castrate their corpses and feed them, to swine? Yes.” said professor Christine Fair Saturday.

The Tweet went viral Monday, and was widely shared among the political right. As of early Tuesday morning, Fair’s account had been suspended.

“Twitter has suspended, and perhaps permanently banned, the account of Georgetown Professor C. Christine Fair, apparently due to this tweet,” said Glenn Greenwald.

The social media giant has not released a statement explaining the ban, but the Tweet likely violated Twitter’s terms of service. The platform has a history of banning accounts that it deems “harmful” or “abusive” though it does not clearly define those terms.

Georgetown released a statement in support of Fair.

“The views of faculty members expressed in their private capacities are their own and not the views of the University,” the school said. “Our policy does not prohibit speech based on the person presenting ideas or the content of those ideas, even when those ideas may be difficult, controversial or objectionable. While faculty members may exercise freedom of speech, we expect that their classrooms and interaction with students be free of bias and geared toward thoughtful, respectful dialogue.”

Georgetown declined to comment on whether it would admit a student who had shared similar messages on social media. Fair also declined to comment for BLP’s original story.
