VIRGINIA: Youngkin Wins BIG With Latinos In Exit Poll

By Darian Douraghy

Republican Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin won more votes from Latinos than Democrat Terry McCauliffe, a Fox News exit poll shows.

According to the poll, 54 percent of Hispanic voters backed Youngkin and only 45 percent for McCauliffe — a nine percentage point difference from Virginia’s fastest-growing ethnic group.

Many Democrats understand what a threat dwindling Latino support is for the Left, with a pre-election analysis from the Washington Post noting that Latino voters are an “emerging powerhouse in Virginia politics.”

“It can make a critical, perhaps, the critical difference in this election,” a writer from the Post forecasted.

The analysis pointed out that Youngkin’s focus on lowering taxes, improving education, creating jobs, and fighting crime enabled him to “peel away a portion” of Latinos who have historically voted for Democrats.

“Youngkin won the Latino vote… McAuliffe won the LatinX vote,” joked a self-described “pro-freedom” Venezuelan on Twitter.

Hispanics have generally been trending more conservative nationally in recent times, with Former President Trump similarly making large gains in Hispanic support for the Republican party in the 2020 presidential election. Many have claimed that the conservative emphasis on family values, hard work, and especially creating safe communities has caused the message to resonate more as of late.

Many Hispanics who fled their countries fled for those same reasons,” Prince William County Supervisor Yesli Vega (R-Coles), who chairs the candidate’s “Latinos for Youngkin” outreach effort, told the Post.

“What’s really resonating with the Hispanic community is that you can realize the American Dream if you work hard and apply yourself and you are dedicated,” Vega continued. “That’s really Glenn’s message: to provide people with an opportunity to access the same resources in order for them to be successful in this country.”

Youngkin’s victory with Hispanic voters seems to mirror a national trend: as the Democrat Party becomes more radical and extreme, minorities run faster and faster.
