Former president Donald Trump will be getting back on social media in two to three months with a platform of his own.
The news was first broken by Fox News. Trump senior adviser Jason Miller told them Sunday that the former president’s new social media platform will “completely redefine the game.”
Miller also said he believes “tens of millions” of people will join.
Although there is a verified @realdonaldtrump Gab account, it is operated by Gab and simply reposts Trump’s written statements. Advisers like Jared Kushner have reportedly dissuaded the former president from joining alternative platforms like Gab or Parler because they’re “fringe.”
Trump’s official Facebook account and all its posts are visible, but he has been barred from making any further posts following the January 6 Capitol fracas.
Trump has also been completely booted off Twitter, though an archive of around 56,000 tweets has been preserved here. He had previously stated that even if Twitter and Facebook were to reinstate his posting privileges, he would not return to those platforms. He may have even dropped a hint about the building of his own platform:
Former president Donald Trump appeared on Newsmax TV with Greg Kelly on Wednesday night to discuss his plans regarding social media now that he has been banned from Twitter and other mainstream tech platforms.

“If you look at what’s going with Twitter, I understand that it’s become very boring and millions of people are leaving. They’re leaving it because it’s not the same and I can understand that,” Trump said.
“We’re negotiating with a number of people, and there’s also the other operation of building your own site. You can literally build your own site,” he added.
