Justin Amash Votes with Democrats to Subpoena Kellyanne Conway for Bogus ‘Hatch Act’ Allegations

By Shane Trejo

In the latest phase of the Democrat-pushed witch hunt against the Trump administration, the House Oversight and Reform Committee voted 25-16 to subpoena White House counselor Kellyanne Conway today over alleged violations of the Hatch Act.

Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) was the only Republican to vote with the Democrats to subpoena Conway, as the impeachment champion continues his betrayal of his party, his constituents, and the Fourth Amendment.

“There are rarely issues that come before our committee that are so clear-cut, but this is one of them,” Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) said. “This is about right and wrong. This is about the core principle of our precious democracy, that nobody, not one person, nobody in this country is above the law.”

Henry Kerner, who leads the OSC and wrote the report claiming Conway violated the Hatch Act, claimed earlier today that Conway’s behavior “created an unprecedented challenge to OSC’s ability to enforce the Hatch Act.”

“Her conduct sent a false message to other federal employees that they need not abide by the Hatch Act, or that senior officials are above the law,” Kerner testified. “I’m here to emphatically say that’s not the case.”

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) of the House Freedom Caucus blasted the ridiculousness of Kerner’s request:

Amash, who recently left the House Freedom Caucus after calling for impeachment, is now essentially caucusing with the Democrats. He works to give their witch hunt against President Trump bipartisan cover at every opportunity.

He had previously voted with Democrats on the Oversight Committee to hold AG William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt of Congress over a subpoena attempt regarding the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census. Amash is on the record supporting illegals having the right to vote in certain elections.

“The Democrats have continued to attack this administration on dubious grounds, and they aren’t going to let the facts get in the way of their own concocted stories,” Ross said.

“By holding a contempt vote, the committee has already demonstrated its scorn for the Constitution, continually refusing to engage in the constitutionally-mandated accommodation process. That is far more serious than the empty stunt the committee performed today,” he added.

Amash will likely continue doing the Democratic Party’s dirty work as he heads into a fierce primary battle with two Republican challengers in 2020.

He is also rumored to make a jump to the marginal Libertarian Party as their presidential candidate where he hopes to play spoiler against Trump in the key battleground state of Michigan, and potentially hand over the election to his Democratic Party allies.
