With energy prices surging in the United States and Europe potentially facing a brutal winter, the political classes in the Collective West are quickly blaming Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for this price surge.
Hating on Russian President Vladimir Putin has been all the rage over the past decade. To be sure, the Russian government is not freedom-oriented and has taken several controversial geopolitical actions. But to blame it for the rising energy costs that have marked the West for the past two years is misleading at best.
For one, gas prices have been on an upward trajectory prior to the Russian military incursion into Ukraine on February 24, 2022. On top of that, these surges are the product of the supply chain shocks that government’s worldwide created in response to the Wuhan virus pandemic. To make matters worse, many Western countries, especially in Europe, have adopted destructive green policies that have left these countries vulnerable to disruptive energy shocks.
Try explaining that to fanatic pro-green energy advocates, however.
Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar spelled that out clearly in a tweet he posted on October 11, 2022. He tweeted, “Vladimir Putin didn’t triple your gas prices.”
Gosar has been a major opponent of the DC Swamp’s attempts to get the US bogged down in a geopolitical quagmire in Ukraine.
From a big picture point of view, the globalist class is using the current geopolitical crisis to enact a wide array of green energy policies and subject their populations to reduced living standards.
People should not fall for the Russia scapegoating and recognize that the real enemy and perpetrator of the current energy crisis lies in the DC Swamp, London, and Brussels.
