Pelosi Arrives In Taiwan Despite China Warning, Biden Admin Blasted For ‘Deliberately Ambiguous’ Stance On Growing Tensions

By Bo Banks

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has reportedly arrived in Taiwan.

China issued a stark warning to Pelosi last Friday when Hu Xijin, the editor of China’s jingoistic state-run Global Times, had this to say on Twitter about the expected stop during the 82-year-old lawmaker’s Asia trip:

“If US fighter jets escort Pelosi’s plane into Taiwan, it is invasion,” Hu said. “The PLA has the right to forcibly dispel Pelosi’s plane and the US fighter jets, including firing warning shots and making tactical movement of obstruction. If ineffective, then shoot them down.”

Per Fox News, Pelosi is the first House speaker to visit Taiwan since Newt Gingrich’s 1997 visit.

Her arrival has prompted China to increase military activity in both the sea and air around Taiwan.

China’s People’s Liberation Army also posted a chilling new video on WeChat yesterday ahead of the House Speaker’s visit to Taiwan.

“Our Congressional delegation’s visit to Taiwan honors America’s unwavering commitment to supporting Taiwan’s vibrant Democracy,” Pelosi said in a statement upon her arrival.

“Our visit is part of our broader trip to the Indo-Pacific — including Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan — focused on mutual security, economic partnership and democratic governance,” she added.

“Our discussions with Taiwan leadership will focus on reaffirming our support for our partner and on promoting our shared interests, including advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific region, she continued. “America’s solidarity with the 23 million people of Taiwan is more important today than ever, as the world faces a choice between autocracy and democracy.”

After Hu Xijin’s threat last week, the White House delivered a weak and pathetic response when asked about the situation by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy.

Now, as CNBC reports, the arrival of Pelosi is sparking increased tensions with China. Especially because the Biden administration has been “deliberately ambiguous” about U.S. policy toward Taiwan.

The CCP has repeatedly warned against this visit, and Chinese President Xi Jinping even told President Joe Biden that the United States must not “play with fire” during a Thursday phone call.

“Those who play with fire will perish by it. It is hoped that the U.S. will be clear-eyed about this,” Xi Jinping said.

This is a developing story. We will report more as new information becomes available.
