2011 VIDEO: Comey Heaped Praise On His Friend Robert Mueller, Whom He Spoke To ‘Nearly Every Day’

Fired former FBI director James Comey offered effusive, over-the-top praise for his friend Robert Mueller on June 8, 2011 when Mueller came up for a two-year extension as FBI director. The Senate approved the extension despite a Rand Paul fight in opposition to Mueller.

“I know Bob Mueller very well, and believe that he is one of the finest public servants this nation has ever seen,” said Comey, who was then senior vice president and general counsel of the defense contractor Lockheed Martin.

“When I was deputy attorney general during those two years, I spoke to Bob Mueller nearly every day, and I watched as his remarkable combination of intellect and tenacity drove the FBI’s counterterrorism efforts. Because the director’s standards were so high, everybody’s work had to be better. His relentless probing, which was rooted in an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the enemy and our capabilities to respond to the enemy, rippled through the FBI and the rest of the national security community,” Comey said. Fired former FBI director James Comey got cornered last week by House Republicans who clearly decided to up their game during his second closed-door testimony in front of the outgoing GOP majority on the Oversight and Judiciary Committees.

“I know on their way out they seem to be wanting to play defense now for the President and want to do everything in their power to bring doubt regarding the Mueller investigation,” said a shaken Democrat Elijah Cummings to a reporter, referring to the recently more-aggressive Republicans.

Here are Comey’s hallway remarks, in which he notably did not deny that he leaked classified information when he leaked his memos to the press.

I reported for Big League Politics:

James Comey’s friend, Columbia University professor Daniel Richman, leaked classified information that Comey gave him. During this leaking period, Richman was apartment-building neighbors with a partner at the law firm that strategized with Fusion GPS operative Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian plant who set up Don Jr. in Trump Tower.

“Yes, he is my neighbor,” Amy Wenzel, a partner at Cozen O’Connor, confirmed in a phone conversation with Big League Politics, confirming that they spoke. They live near each other in a Brooklyn high-rise.

Cozen O’Connor managing partner Howard Schweitzer is listed here on a DOJ form from an investigation into the breaking of lobbying laws by Russians trying to repeal the Magnitsky Act — which was just a front to get Russians in the room with Don Jr. It turns out that Natalia Veselnitskaya was actually operating out of the Cozen O’Connor offices.

I highlighted the Cozen O’Connor connection in a Periscope outside of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

Congressman Claims Deep State May Have Planted Fake News about Russians in Afghanistan

This is likely the newest Russian hoax.

Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) believes that certain deep state actors may have planted fake news about the Russians paying Taliban personnel to kill U.S. soldiers.

The story was reported by the New York Times last week, and President Donald Trump has been thrown through the ringer because he supposedly did nothing about it.

The White House has disputed the facts of the story, and Banks told Breitbart News Tonight on SiriusXM that he thinks this may be the next phase of the Russia scam that has been perpetrated since before Trump was sworn into office.

Banks explained on the show that “initial tactical reports often require additional collection and validation,” and he is angered that the work by the Times could prevent the truth from ever being known.

“Gina Haspel, the CIA director, released a statement, released her first-ever statement, she’s never done this before, but she released a statement saying that the intelligence was not convincing enough that it rose to the point that they took it seriously that should brief the president about the alleged bounties on American troops or American civilians serving in Afghanistan,” Banks said.

“To your point, it’s hit pieces like this that make it much harder for the president to do his job, to get out, to bring our troops home and end the longest war in American history, but also to identify the real threats of the day … the intelligence community spent the last four days focused on refuting this hit piece when they should be focused on the greatest existential threat we face in America today which is combatting the China threat,” he added.

“Democrats want to wear out this Russian-Trump collusion hoax because they want to make hay out of that to divert attention away from the biggest weakness of all from Joe Biden and Hunter Biden, the Hunter Biden corruption issue is that Obama record fo appeasing and turning a blind eye to the nefarious actions of China,” Banks explained. “They don’t want to talk about that; that’s why they want to bring out this tired old Russian narrative that the American people have long moved on from.”

The Pentagon has come out and said that there is not enough evidence for the claim to be corroborated.

“The Department of Defense continues to evaluate intelligence that Russian GRU operatives were engaged in malign activity against United States and coalition forces in Afghanistan. To date, DOD has no corroborating evidence to validate the recent allegations found in open-source reports. Regardless, we always take the safety and security of our forces in Afghanistan – and around the world – most seriously and therefore continuously adopt measures to prevent harm from potential threats,” Pentagon Spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said in a statement given to American Military News on Monday night.

Yet again, it seems the fake news is putting America last by publishing dubious reports that hurt national security just to attack President Trump.
