2024 Watch: Biden’s Trips May Signal Reelection Plans

Trips May Signal Reelection Plans

President Biden’s trips to Iowa and New Hampshire could be an indicator that he is running for reelection in 2024.

On Tuesday, Biden will head to New Hampshire, which comes just a week after he traveled to Iowa, another early voting state.

During his trip to Iowa, Biden said he plans to run for reelection “if the Lord Almighty allows.”

“I am going to run in 2024,” Biden said. “What do you think? I got a lot of things I want to do.”

Biden’s trips to early voting states are raising eyebrows and fueling speculation about his plans for 2024. Even though it is still unclear whether Biden will actually run for reelection, nor if his health and age will allow.

Biden, who is 79 years old now, would be 82 during his second inaugural, and 86 by the end of his second term.

According to Democratic strategists, campaign politics have a lot to do with where a president chooses to travel. Which is not to say these recent trips to Iowa and New Hampshire weren’t primarily intended to push policy.

“There’s no decision that the White House makes about where to send the president that doesn’t have some sort of political consideration. They’re not choosing these places by accident, ever,” said an anonymous Democratic strategist.

Another anonymous consultant said “if someone’s telling you that no one at the White House has considered political impact of any trip the president makes, they probably have a bridge to sell you.”

They continued, “it’s not surprising that the president would head to some of these early states now to lay the groundwork [ahead of any reelection campaign].”

Of course, many Americans are trying to figure out who will be running against who in the 2024 election. Sure, there is still time for all that, but with Biden’s declining health and approval numbers, many are speculating that the Democrat party will opt for someone else.

Hence why some believe Hunter Biden’s laptop is just now coming to light.

When Biden was asked about running for reelection over a year ago, he said, “My answer is yes. I plan on running for re-election. That’s my expectation.”

During an interview with ABC News in December, he noted, “If I’m in the health I’m in now, if I’m in good health, then in fact, I would run again.”

“I think I owe the American people an opportunity to see whether or not I’ve done a good job,” he said. “And so, that’s my expectation.”

As the 2024 election approaches, it’s important to pay attention to where potential candidates, from both parties, are spending their time and which states they are traveling to. It gives us more insight into who’s gearing up for a presidential run.
