Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is traveling to Kansas this week, as he tests the waters for a possible US Senate run at the behest of the Republican Party establishment.
Pompeo is coming to Kansas alongside Ivanka Trump, the President’s daughter, on Thursday. Congressman Ron Estes is welcoming the duo to the Sunflower State to participate in a panel discussion hosted by the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board.
“As a member of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Worker and Family Support, I look forward to hosting Ivanka Trump in Wichita to further the Trump administration’s focus on growing our economy,” Estes said.
Pompeo has visited Kansas four times this year, after previously erasing his footstep in the state as soon as he bolted to Washington D.C. He is trying to rebuild his ties to Kansas after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell publicly drafted him as the establishment-backed favorite for next year’s Senate race.
“The Kansas race is still unfolding. I’ve said several times—I’m not sure the president agrees with this — that I’d love to see the secretary of state run for the Senate in Kansas,” McConnell said earlier this year, referring to the seat that will be vacated by retiring Sen. Pat Roberts in 2020.
Some Trump administration officials believe that Pompeo’s establishment-backed Senate run is already a forgone conclusion.
“The widely held assumption is that he’s preparing a run, because he wants the reputation of a tough man without having to take on all the political risks that position requires,” a senior administration official told McClatchy DC. “Pompeo has never stopped being a congressman – he’s a congressman serving as a secretary of state.”
“The fear is getting fired like the last guy and having his entire political career ended by tweet,” the official added.
The establishment hopes that Pompeo’s run will stifle the momentum that is coalescing behind Kris Kobach, who announced his run for the seat earlier this year. Kobach, an “America First” patriot who is a long-time favorite of President Donald Trump, has quickly become the bane of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and Senate Leadership Fund, the globalist special interests that bankroll the GOP.
Pompeo has also been among the main influences within the administration who have opened up the flood gates for “Never Trumpers” to infiltrate and subvert President Trump’s MAGA agenda:
Pompeo has quietly led the charge for the infiltration of the Trump administration with ‘Never Trump’ operatives gunning to sabotage the President’s ‘America First’ agenda.
Mary Kissel, who Trump once called a “major loser,” was hired by Pompeo as a senior adviser in the State Department despite opposing her boss on every single one of his policies. Pompeo also hired James Jeffrey as his envoy for the Syrian war despite the fact that he was a ‘Never Trumper’ who signed a pro-Hillary Clinton letter arguing that Trump was “a dangerous president [who] would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being” in 2016.
In Pompeo’s most egregious betrayal of Trump, he hired Elliott Abrams – the disgraced war criminal who supported the Iraq War and perjured himself by lying to Congress over the Iran/Contra scandal – as the Venezuelan envoy despite Abrams’ long-stated goal for the GOP establishment to “seize the party machinery back immediately after the Trump defeat.”
Trump complained about this phenomenon in a tweet earlier today, which referenced Pompeo and others who have welcomed potential saboteurs into the midst:
It would be really great if the people within the Trump Administration, all well-meaning and good (I hope!), could stop hiring Never Trumpers, who are worse than the Do Nothing Democrats. Nothing good will ever come from them!

Pompeo can be seen describing Trump as an “authoritarian” similar to Obama, rallying Republican voters behind Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) during a time when the 2016 presidential campaign was still very much up for grabs:
A 2016 video obtained by @sbg1 shows Mike Pompeo warning Kansas voters that Donald Trump—like Barack Obama—would be “an authoritarian President who ignored our Constitution.” Read Susan Glasser’s new Profile of the Secretary of State: https://t.co/6Bxs6vOTVm pic.twitter.com/1qvA8DLzFu

Whether he is a malign force within the Trump administration or working on behalf of the establishment running a Senate spot in Kansas, Pompeo is a figure who should be looked upon with extreme suspicion considering his double-dealing resume.

Wisconsin Polling Shows President Trump ROUNDLY Defeating Entire Democratic Field
Democratic prospects in the Midwest are looking tough.
New polling from Quinnipiac released Thursday shows President Donald Trump handily defeating every major Democratic presidential candidate in hypothetical general election matchups.
Trump 50% (+11)
Trump 51% (+10)
Trump 49% (+8)

Well-known Democrats Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden are the most competitive candidates against Trump in the Wisconsin general election, and even they lose by a considerable seven points to the incumbent Republican president.
Even Pete Buttigieg, an Indiana mayor who claims to have a credible path to victory in midwestern states the President grabbed from the Democratic Party in 2016, appears nowhere near seriously competing in the state.
The polling suggests Democrats will have a serious uphill battle in order to contend for the electoral votes of midwestern states such as Wisconsin, in 2020 or other future Presidential elections.
President Trump’s polling in statewide and national surveys has consistently improved as the Democratic Primary erupts in contention, suggesting that the divisions within the Democratic Party may bode well for his re-election.
The state was formerly assumed to be a safe blue state, before Trump won its electoral votes in a shocking upset in 2016. Pennsylvania and Michigan also went Republican for the first time in decades in Trump’s victory, and will prove essential to the election in 2020. Polling of the latter two states shows closer general election contests than in Wisconsin.
If Democrats are resigned to defeat in Midwestern states such as Wisconsin, they may choose to redouble their efforts in southwestern states such as Arizona or Texas.
