Anti-Gun Washington Democrats Put Forward Bullet Tax

Washington state Democrats have recently put forward a bullet tax. They did so on the grounds that it would serve as a tax on the “privilege of using ammunition.”

Per a FOX News report, the legislation in question, HB 2238, describes the ammo tax as “a use tax.” It would be “levied on every person in [Washington state] for the privilege of using ammunition as a consumer at the rate of 11 percent of the selling price.”

According to the bill, ammo is defined as “projectiles with their fuses, propelling charges, or primers designed to be fired from firearms. ‘Ammunition’ includes any shotgun shell and any rifle, pistol, or revolver cartridge.”

In a Microsoft Start report, Washington Democrats are selling  the tax as a way to “decrease gun violence.” The Colorado Springs Gazette pointed out that HB 2238’s tax indicated that the tax revenue “will go to programs that aim to prevent suicide and to reduce firearm-related domestic violence.”

Washington is another blue state that is no longer within the reach of pro-gun activists, as far as conventional political change is concerned. In Guns & Ammo’s best states for gun owners rankings, Wasington is ranked in 40th place. As a result, litigation against unconstitutional gun control measures and even local nullification against gun grabs passed at the state level will be the most pragmatic moves that need to be taken to restore gun rights.

In times of political chaos, unconventional methods of resistance are of the essence.
