Arizona Governor Deploys National Guard to Southern Border
On December 15, 2023, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs announced that she will deploy the state’s Army National Guard to the southern border with Mexico. The soldiers will be helping out the Arizona Department of Public Safety and local police bodies with security operations, which include fentanyl interdiction, analytical support, and campaigns against human trafficking.
That very day Hobbs signed an Executive Order mobilizing the national guard units as part of Arizona’s Operation SECURE. This operation was kicked off in December, which established a new Border Security Office within the State’s Department of Homeland Security. For its first year, the office will be funded with $2 Million from American Rescue Plan funding. These moves come during a time when Arizona has been overwhelmed by a mass migration invasion in the last few years since President Joe Biden was installed in office. The migration wave of 2023 has apparently reached a breaking point.
During her announcement where she signed the executive order, Hobbs said the following to reporters:
“Yet again, the federal government is refusing to do its job to secure our border and keep our communities safe. With this Executive Order, I am taking action where the federal government won’t. But we can’t stand alone, Arizona needs resources and manpower to reopen the Lukeville crossing, manage the flow of migrants, and maintain a secure, orderly, and humane border.”
Hobbs has recently been overwhelmed by the mass migration wave that has struck her state. This wave has been so intense that she demanded $512 million in federal funds to assume the costs the state government has incurred to stave off the current migration wave.
What is afflicting Arizona is the logical conclusion of mass migration. When a country refuses to embrace immigration patriotism, it opens itself up to being subject to a veritable migrant invasion.
