Arizona State Rep. Cory McGarr Warns About Outside Influence Trying to Buy Arizona House Seat
Democratic operatives and donors nationwide are trying to buy Arizona’s 17th legislative district.
According to an email that McGarr released to his supporters on September 3, 2024, he revealed that his Democratic rival Kevin Volk has hauled in $274,460 per his campaign finance reports.
However the major catch here is that the bulk of money is coming from out of state sources. McGarr claims that 52% of his Democratic rival’s donations come from out-of-state sources. By contrast, only 17% of McGarr’s donations came out-of-state. In other words, 83% of his donations come from Arizonans who live in Arizona and have a vested interest in preserving the way of life that their predecessors bequeathed to their posterity.
For perspective, Volk received 27% of his total contributions from California, which is roughly $73,375. McGarr is not so much concerned about the raw numbers in donations but rather the influence that it carries. In effect, he believes that the outsized influence of California donors represents a concerted effort to “Californize” politics in Arizona and turn into an inhospitable leftist hellhole.
Republicans currently control the Arizona state legislature, albeit by narrow margins — 31-29 in the State House and 16-14 in the State Senate. McGarr stressed the importance of keeping the legislature in Republican hands due to how the governor’s office is occupied by Democrat Katie Hobbs. With a Democrat trifecta, Arizona could witness the state government pass legislation that undermines parental rights in education and the Second Amendment, while letting the Left completely redefine sexual relations and allow grown men to use the same locker rooms as young females.
McGarr was initially elected in the 2022 election cycle. He has a strong track voting for legislation that would declare drug cartels as terrorist organizations, abolish the income tax, prohibit the use of CRT & DEI programs in schools, remove explicit materials from schools, prohibit drag shows for minors, and uphold the Second Amendment — among other grassroots conservative policy items.
McGarr is the clear option for conservative and independent voters who want Arizona to be safe, affordable, and free.
